I am Searching
I am searching for that:
Rose in the concrete
Diamond in the rough
Heart beat in suburbia
Tough kid from the street
All brave enough to compose from the beat of their own pulse
The little ghetto girl on the brink who seeks to make you think
The Hispanic who doesn’t panic amidst the Immigrant’s plight
The blonde haired blue eyed girl who creates soul though she’s white
The teacher with a kite who convinces students to let it take flight
Even amidst alley ways and tenement buildings
The very educators open to tactics transcending typical TAKS kits
Offering both the literate and illiterate – emotional literacy
The cultivation of seeds for healing amidst society’s sickness
In order to forgive uncondoned – spark light in the darkness
Offering our youth a voice in this world full of mirrors
For I do this for the girl who doesn’t have a daddy
I do this for the boy who doesn’t have a daddy
I do this for my little girl now because I am a daddy
And there are far too many fatherless men – impacting our young fatherless men
About everything except how not to one day produce – fatherless men
You see…
I am searching…
I are searching…
I am searching...
For you.
